Hi, I'm Amy, Mark's wife! I spend most of my time trying to keep Mark in line.
Although, I must admit that he has rubbed off on me quite a bit. Eight years ago I didn't think
it was a real "big deal" when Bill Clinton took over the White House. Mark was devastated. Call
it an "awakening" I guess, but I was ready to move out of the country if Algore got elected.
I guess I've come to understand the role of both faith and government in our society and how the
issues really affect me.Being a Mom is my greatest desire and privilege. I enjoy my four (4) boys very much. I consider Mark my fourth (4th) child (he wrote that)! The boys keep me busy enough. I'm homeschooling Stephen (7) and will take on Brandon (5) next year. Lord willing, I hope to homeschool all the kids, that is, if the government lets me and the kids want me to. Both Mark and I believe strongly in giving our kids the most attention we can. Although I do have a teaching degree, it is the desire to impart "truth" and "life" and spend time with my kids that has me homeschooling.
Our hope this year is that we can find some additional help on the resort that will free me from the 100 hours of work the resort requires when open. I guess you could say that my desires are to be a wife and mother full-time. My faith in Christ is central to me and I'd enjoy the free time to actually go to church and really be there. Sometimes I feel like the resort keeps us both so busy that when we are away from the resort we really are not. Can you relate? Ha!
I love to entertain people in our home. We try to have 5-10 families that are staying at our resort up for dinner each summer. We also invite other friends and believers over for dinner. We find it is such a casual way to get to know others. I value friendship a lot and well, a good friend is hard to find.
In my spare time, you will find me reading a good book or cropping her pictures for her Creative Memories photo albums. I've listed a few of some recent books I've read for you. I also love to snow ski. Mark and I just recently took a trip out to Copper Mountain and had a blast! You can learn more about me below. Take care.
Likes and Dislikes
- Sports I Watch (but only because Mark and Stephen always control the TV : Huskers, Chiefs, Rams, Tiger.
- Favorite Classic Movies : "The Jerk" and "Better Off Dead".
- Favorite Line : "The Jerk" (...that's all I need...), "The Jerk" (...it's these cans, he hates these can's), "Better Off Dead" (Two dollars, I want my two dollars).
- Books I Liked : Left Behind Series, anything by Francine Rivers.
- I'd Rather Be : In the tub reading a good book.
- Favorite Short Getaway : Silver Dollar City during Christmas time with some hot chocolate.
- Favorite Long Getaway : That depends, how long will I be away from my kids?
- Amy's Ticks : Algore, liberal media, and Mark's lack of proper Grammar skills.
- It hurts : When Christian friends stab you in your back or your husband isn't honest with you.
- Famous For . . . : Starting a "Ladies Night Out" at several churches.
- I Think : That I should get the $6,000 we pay in school taxes each year if my kids exceed the public schools acheivement and socialization tests.
- I Hope : That someday my relationship with parents and sister is better.
